As I turn the calendar, I realize that it’s the countdown to the Calgary Marathon where I’m running the 10K. And thank God it’s only that. Next year, I’ll run the half marathon. But since I’m a first time runner, I’ll settle for this short run. I continue to train with Sharyl, my trainer at Carmody Recreation Center. She’s no pushover either. She never says, “If you can.” She loves what she does and it shows in her commands where she is like Nike….”Just Do It.”
And I do. Every step gets me closer to my goal of running the whole 10K. But there are days where I think I’m going to die. When you start running at age…oh, can’t tell you my age, it’s a lot tougher on the joints, not to mention other parts of the body. I love it, though! And I even went out and purchased a license plate frame that says that very thing. If I ever get to hating it, I’ll be sure to tear it off.
Today was one of my Run Days. I stepped on the treadmill at the Rec Center and wished I was back in bed. I persisted and made my goal of running every step on my training schedule. Now, where is my ICE PACK?
Wow – you are an inspiration! I’m so glad I found your blog! Please keep updating!
I have been wanting to start to train for a half marathon… meaning I need to run something like a 5k first.
I met with Sharyl a couple times last year before I gave up… now I am looking to get back to it… I just got married last year and would like to start a family… but I have about 130 pounds to lose before I am able to pregnant… You would think that would be enough motivation.
Where do you find your strength?
Keep up the great work!!!
Maybe I will see you sometime at Carmody!
